Hi everybody, had to do a fresh install of Cognos 10.2 after old sever's hw died a couple of weeks ago.
I had a back up of the content store but not all the configuration we did.

Now users find in the launch menĂ¹ links to query studio, analysis studio, report studio, event studio and cognos administration, we only want them to see Cognos workspace link there.

How can i remove those "studio" links?

TIA

Those links should automatically disappear when you set up your security. For example, if a user belongs to only group(s)/role(s) that don't have the Query Studio capability, the user won't see Query Studio in the Launch menu. You need to make sure your groups and roles are defined with the appropriate capabilities, and allocate your users to the desired groups and roles.

Cheers!

MFGF thanks for your reply.
Yesterday after posting in the forum I continued to do some tests on the new Cognos installation and I realized that the content of the Launch menu for the same user, who should be a simple user who can consult some reports and that's it, varies depending on of the browser used, Firefox shows all the possible options, Edge and Chrome instead a reduced selection (I attach screenshots to clarify).
So if I understand correctly, I have to check which default groups/roles these users belong to in Cognos Administration and modify the right operational capabilities for those groups/roles.

Hi,

The browser thing is what we'd call in the UK a "red herring" - something that looks promising but leads you off in entirely the wrong direction. Query Studio, Analysis Studio and Event Studio are only supported in Firefox and Internet Explorer in Cognos 10. Regardless of security, you won't see those studios shown in Chrome or Edge - because they are not supported in those browsers. It has nothing to do with your security capabilities in this case.

To fix the issues you are seeing, you need to check firstly that each user belongs only to the groups and roles they should have access to, then set the capabilities of those groups or roles to allow access only to the studios they need to be able to use. Also, check the security of the folders in the Public Folders area to make sure they are locked down and accessible only to the appropriate users.

Cheers!
