Hi all,

I want to create a report that displays individual tables for each year from 2014 to 2024. This means there should be 10 separate tables, each showing data for a specific year.

Is there an option to enter the years as parameters so that when I run the report, 10 tables are automatically displayed? Otherwise, I would need to copy the table 10 times and manually adjust the filters.

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

Have you looked at the "Section" feature for a list report? This allows you to take a single list and split it into different sections based on data item(s). Is this what you need?

Cheers!

Hi,

I wasn't aware of the Section feature before. I just tested it, and it allows me to create separate lists for each year I need. However, the table I want should look like this:
Y-axis: Distribution of the variables (0-500, 500-1000, ...)
X-axis: Different categorizations (x, y, ...)

When I try to insert this cross table into the list, I always encounter an error. I'm relatively new to Cognos, so this might be an issue on my end, or perhaps cross tables don't work in this type of list.

Thanks for your help!

Ah, ok - crosstab rather than list. One option would be to create a list containing just the Year column, then drag a crosstab into the list as a new list column. You'll need the Year item in the query of your crosstab, then create a master/detail link between the crosstab and the list. Finally, section the list on Year.

Another option - if you want a separate crosstab on a different report page - is to create a crosstab, then use a Page Set based on Year to drive different yearly crosstabs on different pages. Again, you'll need Year in the query of the crosstab, and probably master/detail to the page set query.

Cheers!
