Hey all,
New here to the community. Been lurking for a bit, and have learned quite a bit from yall.

I haven't really been able to find anything regarding what I'm wanting to do.

Is there a way to have users select the language they'd like to run a report as in properties and have it auto translate the data in the report/ prompt pages ?

I've tried with Hindi but it seems to only translate numbers in data item values in a table .: १,२,३,४,५,६,७८,९
The only word that's actually been translated is the name of the month in a date for <%Today()%> : जुलाई

Is this something that's even possible? I feel like I'm on the right track.

Hi,

There are two language settings for Cognos users - the Product language and the Content language. Product language is anything embedded in the UI as well as messages such as error messages. The Product languages are pre-defined by IBM and baked into the product. Content Language is for the data that gets rendered, things like item names and item descriptions, and the static text in reports. One important point to mention here is that Cognos does not have any facilities to automatically translate languages. Any and all languages you want to use need to be defined in the model and/or in the report. This means the person authoring the underlying model (for example) needs to define every language variant for every item and query subject name and store those in the model. It also means the data you are using in your reports needs to have multiple language variants held within it - so for example, if you have a Product Name in your data, you would need the data to have versions of this stored in English, Hindi, Japanese etc.

For more details, take a look at the Framework Manager User Guide, Chapter 5: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/SSEP7J_11.0.0/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.ug_fm.doc/ug_fm.pdf

Cheers!
