Hi everyone,

I've done lots of cognos installs over the years but i'm currently being plagued by an issue I have never seen before.

We are experiencing some strange authentication issues whilst we try to set up and configure a new Cognos Analytics Standalone server environment ( 11.1.7 fix pack4 and have also tried with 11.2.1).

The OS environment is windows 2019

We have configured Cognos connection to use Active directory as the namespace. The service starts successfully and we can log in via the web interface using a domain username and password.

However, if we try to test connectivity to Active directory within Cognos configuration this fails with the following message:

[Error ] CAM-AAA-0055 User input is required.
[Error ] CAM-AAA-0036 Unable to authenticate because the credentials are invalid.
[Error ] The encryption type requested is not supported by the KDC

This occurs for any account that we try to use to authenticate from within Cognos configuration. We have tried with service accounts and standard domain user accounts.

Anybody come across this before?
The fact that the service starts and we can access the environment via the front end via the namespace is really odd.

Thanks

DaHammer

Have you deployed strong encryption JARs? You might be running into a TLS protocol compatibility.
