Hello together,

I just installed the 11.1.7 Framework Manager (FWM), but unfortunatly the UI Language of the FWM is "german", but the Cognos Configuration language of the FWM is in english ?!? I realy dont know why this happens. The Windows OS is in English and I choosed English installation at the Cognos AnyInstaller. There is also a way to force it to a different language, it is to edit the BMI.ini in the FWM installation folder:

before edit:
<Preference Name="ProductLocale">en-us</Preference>
after edit:
<Preference Name="ForceProductLocale">en-us</Preference>

But this also doesnt work...  :o

Hope you guys have a good idea for me?!

Regards

Hi,

Framework Manager takes the language setting from the OS on the machine it is installed on to figure out what language to use for the UI. I'm guessing the OS language of the machine is German?

The normal approach to change the UI language is to do what you described - edit BMT.ini in the Configuration folder in the FM install location. You may need to adopt Admin privileges to be able to save the changes, though. I'm surprised the ProductLocale was originally set to en-us - I would have expected it to be set to de? Can you make absolutely sure that the final edited string is <Preference Name="ForceProductLocale">en-us</Preference> and that the changes have saved successfully to BMT.ini (and not BMT.txt)?

This should be all you need to do.

Cheers!

Hi MFGF,

thanks for the reply. I just checked it the BMT.ini, its definitly set to "en-us". I'm administrator and was able to save the change. The Windows OS is in english (all icons labeld in english like "recycle bin").

Is there maybe a windows language variable I can check?

Just as a sanity-check, can you go to Control Panel > Region on the machine and check what the Format language is set to? Other than this (and the steps above), there isn't anything I know that would control the FM UI language.

Hi,

Great - that explains it. Glad we managed to figure it out together. One day I'll make it over to Germany :-)
