I have to use a SSAS cube in Cognos and was wondering how to set security (row level) in the cube. Does Cognos allow setting security before publishing using FM or does Cognos use the security of SSAS cube? I found a post which is quite old but the original poster did not respond so not clear.

Hi,

It has been a long time since I used a SSAS cube in Cognos, but if memory serves, all the security needs to be defined within the cube itself. You would also need to use the same authentication provider for the cube and for Cognos. Often connections to SSAS cubes are set up to use the credentials of the Cognos service in Windows, which obviously would be static credentials for all, so you'd need to make sure this isn't the case.

Cheers!
