Allow users to save filters specific to them in a dashboard

Hi,

We have a number of dashboards which allow the user to drill down/filter the data at any level in the organisation's hierarchy. Is it possible to allow a user to save the filters which are specific to them\are of importance to them, so that next time they open the dashboard they don't have to re-filter the dashboard again? Like some kind of dashboard view?

I don't want to allow each user to save their own copy of the dashboard in full as this would result in a significant amount of duplicate reports and would be virtually impossible to maintain the dashboards centrally.

Thansk,
Brian

Hi Brian,

How many users are you talking about? The only way that I could think of doing that is to find out what those filters are, and build a calculation into your data module / source for each one. Then the user can drag that calculation into the dashboard each time

Hi,

Thanks for the response.

We have multiple thousands of users. We take the approach of keeping the dashboards at organisation-level, but allowing filtering\drill down to allow users to view data for their specific area. I want to be able to allow the users to save their personalised filters, without creating many hundreds of copies of reports. Ideally, when the master dashboard is then updated centrally, we would want these changes to be reflected in the variants of the dashboards that users have saved.

In report studio, I'm sure this type of functionality was available by allowing users to save "report views", but I can't see anything similar for Analytics Dashboards.

Cheers,

Hi Brian,

I agree - historically you used to be able to create report views for reports. The new functionality of CA seems to be a more personalised approach, at least for dashboards. The report views are still there, and you can create one for any report, but not for a dashboard.

Maybe it's something you could suggest to IBM. I know there's a website for ideas etc. but I'm afraid I don't know what it is.

Cheers,
Chris
