hello community

I need the information which license a user needs who wants to read a TM1 server (PVU license) either via TM1 Web Application or via BI (Cube as source). The customer has a PVU license for TM1 and BI licenses. Can someone explain to me exactly how the license model behaves or even has a capacity matrix for Planning Analytics 2.x.

Hi,

From the Cognos Analytics perspective, TM1/PA cubes are just data sources. As long as you have a PVU license for your TM1/PA server, you don't need any other TM1/PA user licenses to consume the cubes in Cognos Analytics. You would, however, need Cognos Analytics licenses to allow you to run/author the reports/dashboards etc. You mentioned the customer has PVU licensing for their Cognos Analytics - do you know what specific licenses they have?

I'm not an expert on TM1/PA licensing, sadly. I'm assuming that any users wanting to access cubes via TM1 Web would need a relevant user license for that.

If I were you I'd reach out to my IBM account manager to ask for a definitive answer on what licenses are held and what capabilities those licenses permit.

Cheers!

Hello,

what if i build an application ontop of the REST Api, would the user of the Application need a Explorer Licence?

Thanks!

Hi,

Sadly I'm not an expert on TM1/PA licensing, as I alluded to above. My guess would be no, as you're creating your own application, and the server already has a PVU license, but I'm just guessing.

As I indicated before, it's best to reach out to your IBM account manager to ask for a definitive answer on what licenses are held and what capabilities those licenses permit.

Thanks for your hint!

One more question to this topic, if i set up a new server instance on the same server machine, would i need a extra license if i'm PVU based?

Thank you!
