How to Resolve DPR-ERR-2077 Error

Hi All,

Our cognos version is 10.2.1 and we have three tire architecture. (3 Dispatchers and 2 web servers). Cognos installation was new on these servers (was done during Jan - May 2019).
We have started seeing DPR-ERR-2077 error in cogserver log file. This is causing cognos to hung and users are unable to even get the prompt page while running the reports. I also see DPR-ERR-2002 or XQE-GEN-0018 error followed by DPR-ERR-2077.

Below are few lines from the log file:

Original Error: DPR-ERR-2077 Failed to forward the request because the associated external process with PID 10071 is unavailable, either because the process is shutting down, or this was an absolute affinity request and the requested process does not exist anymore. For more information, enable the dispatcher and the external process detailed logs, and reproduce the conditions that caused the error. 

Original Error: DPR-ERR-2002 Unable to execute the request because there were no connections to the process available within the configured time limit. 

XQE-GEN-0018 Query Service internal error has occurred, please see the log for details.

Restarting the dispatchers is solving the problem. But any idea how to resolve these errors? What is causing these errors? How to identify these issues before cognos getting hung?

I did follow the steps mentioned in this tech note. But, that did not solve my problem.

We do have a report that has to show the transaction of every hour. Users will be running this report very frequently. When I change the setting "Use Default Cache" to default, to resolve the DPR-ERR-2077 error, a new issue came up. The new problem is that when users are running the report, they do not see the numbers populated for every hour. Report is not showing every hour details. It always shows the same last time ran data. It is not adding the latest hour data to it. This is the same reason we had the setting "Use Local Cache" set to No for all of our reports.

We have multiple cognos instances of same version 10.2.1 and in all those instances we have the "Use Local Cache" set to NO. None of the other instances is having this issue.

Any idea how else can this DPR-ERR-2077 be resolved?
