That's an excellent question! I haven't found a way in the new portal yet - I resorted to using Cognos Connection for that.

How do you get to Cognos Connection in Cognos Analytics?

This is a serious issue for me right now because I have saved output versions that I can't delete and when I (and presumably other users) select that report, I get the saved output instead of the prompt page.  There used to be an option to make the default action to run the report but I don't see that anywhere  now.

Thanks,
Jack

Hi,

There is an advanced server setting that needs to be entered - portal.disablecc = false

My friend Nick created a YouTube video showing how...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dYpHfbHyWk

Once you have entered this parameter and restarted your Cognos service, you can access Cognos Connection via this URL:

https://<hostname>/bi/v1/disp?b_action=xts.run&m=portal/cc.xts&gohome=

Cheers!

MF, thanks for the info.  I had trouble getting this working.  For some reason, going through a Netscaler prevented Cognos Connection from starting and it stayed with the GLASS UI.  It worked when I bypassed the Netscaler but that was after opening a PMR and getting this info:

---------------------------------------------

If you are using a Ready to Run environment, the video you are referencing is missing steps in order to enable the legacy interface:

Enable the legacy studios in C11:
- go to the following folder - cognos\analytics\configuration
- edit installData.properties
- change Configuration.LegacyLaunchable from 0 to 1
- save and restart C11
Enable the CC UI:
- Launch C11 Cognos Administration
- Click on Status --> System
- Under Scorecard --> All Servers --> click arrow beside System and click on Set Properties
- Click the Settings tab
- Beside Advance Settings, click edit
- On the first empty space on the Parameter column type : portal.disablecc
- Then in the value column type: false
- Click OK
Then wait about 30 sec then log off and log back on to Cognos.

---------------------------------------------

I was also told this:

---------------------------------------------
There are a few Enhancement Requests already open surrounding this behavior:

Click on report name shows last saved output
https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=85305

Glass UI does not allow deletion of saved outputs
https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/rfe/execute?use_case=viewRfe&CR_ID=85354

Unfortunately, as per the first Enhancement Request, the current functionality is by design and Development does not currently plan to change this. They will, however be looking at the inability to delete saved outputs from the Glass UI (the second Enhancement Request).

---------------------------------------------

If anyone reading this cares enough about the issue, feel free to go to one or both enhancement requests and vote for them.

I've also been told by IBM that this work around of "portal.disablecc = false" is going to be removed.

For me, It's not an option to have a solution that may be removed in the next release.

If I'm interpreting IBM's strategy correctly here, they are leaving legacy components available in the product until such time as they manage to include all their capabilities in the new UI. If they do remove access to Cognos Connection in the next release, they would (I hope) provide a way of deleting saved outputs using the new Glass UI. For now "not an option" isn't really a viable approach, since it appears to be the only way to achieve your requirement as things stand. The product is changing, and as it changes we're all going to need to adapt the way we do things, I suspect.

Hi Folks
Since installing version 11.0.3.0 it looks like they have taken this backdoor access to the old Cognos connection away. So get voting via RFE for this feature !
Cheers

Hi,

Cognos Connection is still there in R3. You just need to use the correct URL:

https://<hostname>/bi/v1/disp?b_action=xts.run&m=portal/cc.xts&gohome=

Hi

At least in cognos 11 R2, I could get this feature working with below URL, in case you want to try.

HTTPS://<host name>/ibmcognos/cgi-bin/cognosisapi.dll?b_action=xts.run&m=portal/cc.xts

Thanks
Kiran

Hi Friends,

I am not able to view report output of report view under view version but I could see the output got generated from Admin portal run history. Could you please suggest if I need to do any setting change to enable it.

Thanks
