All of my packages currently use Compatible Query Mode (CQM).  I am thinking of converting all them to Dynamic Query Mode (DQM).

What are the risks?  Will this break any reports?

Just watched https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCEuZn8-rtc.  According to PMSquare, the answer is, "Maybe."

Hi Doug,

My experience in the past has been that the ease or difficulty of the task will depend most on what has been done in the Framework Manager models. I remember a conversion that took weeks because of some of the weird and (frankly) illegal stuff CQM allowed you to get away with. The XQE logs are your best friend in helping identify what the latest issue is, then go hunting for it in the model. Fix it, then repeat for the next issue. And again. I almost lost the will to live at one point :) I found the reports less challenging, but there could still be some funky things that have been done that CQM lets slide that could break your reports. Lifecycle Manager can be a big help with the reports - you can compare the exact outputs to see if there are any differences, and you can split the task into manageable chunks so it's not overwhelming.

Good luck!!

MF.

Thanks, but -- Trying LCM...

Unfortunately, most of my reports have prompts, so LCM can't be used.

I get...

Loading prompt controls...

...after clicking on "Prompts required".  Thinking it may be slow, I even went to get coffee while it "worked on it".  No love.

I moved on and tried to run the comparison and got...

LCM-COG 001 The report is missing required prompt values

...for every report.

Then I found that there is no way to add or remove tasks within projects.  If i don't get it right the first time, nuke it and start over.  Whoopee!

I guess I'll be running all of my report comparisons manually.

Yuk! That looks to have taken a step backwards since I used it. Sigh.

Thinking out loud... I wonder if the old LCM from Cognos 10 would still work - if you pointed it at the dispatcher URI? Might be a wild goose chase, but who knows?
