Scheduling Refresh of Uploaded File used for Dashboard

I'm testing CA 11.1.1 and I am looking for a way to automatically update (or schedule a refresh) of an uploaded .csv or .xlsx file that is part of a dashboard.
So far, I have only found a manual way to do this by clicking replace file on the uploaded file.
However, I am hoping there is some way to automate this so that the dashboard can have update data to use on whatever schedule is deemed appropriate by the business.
Manually performing this request every time does not seem a logical way to accomplish this.

Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Adam.

Hi,

There are no scheduling options for file uploads. See the following post for details:

I understand the basis and thought process of only loading validated and reliable data sources into Cognos.

However, my original plan here was to create a scheduled .csv or .xlsx output from Cognos over a relational data source - this might take some time to generate, but would provide a small enough output to be used as an input for a dashboard/exploration using CA 11.1.1.    The report output could be scheduled easily enough, but without the ability to schedule the upload, this would not be practical to provide a business satisfactory solution.

Are there any other recommended ways to accomplish this?
I don't want to have the lag/latency of using a relational data source to drive a dashboard, so I need some sort of source that has all the required data, is "small" enough for dashboard performance, and that can be automatically refreshed on some sort of frequency.  I could consider a Transformer cube, but was hoping there was some other source as I have not yet introduced Transformer into our environment (I am now at a new job and would have used Transformer in my past position).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Adam.

Looks like I'm going to go down the path of creating a Data Set instead of a report as it seems I can schedule a Data Set refresh.
Then I should be able to build a Dashboard off of that Data Set.

I'll provide an update if this is a successful solution or not.
Thanks again,
Adam.

Sorry - I've only just seen this. I have been off the grid for a spell while moving between continents :)

Yes, a Data Set is exactly what you need here. It is based on data you know is governed, and you can schedule it to refresh whenever the business needs it to.

Spooky! I'm in the same exact situation!!

To confirm, I have found that using a data set is the best way for me to create a manageable data source that I can refresh on a schedule and use in a dashboard with quick enough response.

I am using 11.1.1, and as a noteworthy piece of information, I initially struggled being able to use a data set with the basic filter functions that are available.
For me, the default view gives filter creation very similar to Query Studio in that they are value driven or date and date range only selections.
However, in reading an article on CognosPaul, I found a suggestion to use <Ctrl>, <Alt>, <M> - this puts the data set into "Authoring" mode and allows much more sophisticated filtering and,  although I haven't tried it yet, the ability to create multiple queries to drive a data set.

Thanks,
Adam.

Thanks for the update!! Just be aware that IBM have deprecated <ctrl> <alt> M for the 11.1.x release, so don't design yourself into a cul-de-sac :)
