I don't see anything yet on the IBM blog sites. Any idea where we can find out more? Any release notes or bug fix details available yet?

It's available to download on Passport Advantage. Apparently there is no new functionality over the 11.0.12 release - it's just stability that has been worked on. I've been told by my secret IBM insider that the usual blogs, support websites etc are being updated later today, and these days IBM don't publish a fix list. If you have an APAR open you can find out the status from the support case, although I'm not sure the cases will have been updated yet. Once they have, you could try the following search:

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/search.wss?q=Upgrade%20to%20IBM%20Cognos%20Analytic%2011.0.13.0&ibm-search=site

Thanks for the update, MFGF, but as usual, IBM releases it incompletely to Passport Advantage Online and with documentation to follow (we hope).

Passport Advantage Online has a record for 11.0.13 for Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard, but only these products are available for that OS:

  • IBM Cognos for Microsoft Office 11.0 Microsoft Windows 32bit Multilingual (CNPX0ML)
  • IBM Cognos for Microsoft Office 11.0 Microsoft Windows 64bit Multilingual (CNPX1ML)
  • IBM WebSphere Application Server V9.0 Supplements - IBM HTTP Server (CND1DML)
So, no Cognos server installer is available for my OS.

And trying to get the list of operating systems for Cognos 11.0.3 from the the compatibility list (http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27047186) shows this error message:
QuoteUnable to create the Operating systems for a specific product.
No product data found. The reason can be that the deliverable id is invalid, the product is in end-of-service, or the product data is not ready for publishing.

Tell your secret IBM insider:
It would be really nice if IBM would treat this like a software deployment:  Get all of the artifacts tested and together, then push a button to get all of the information out there at the same time.  This piecemeal pushing of random content to a web site is very unprofessional.  It makes me wonder why people believe IBM is a leader in the IT industry.

Hi Doug,

I think you're getting your wires crossed somewhere. The Windows installer downloads available in PA are for all supported windows platforms. IBM don't provide separate installers for different versions of the Windows OS - there is just one set covering all the supported Windows platforms. Just download the Windows installers for BI Server, Samples, FM etc and away you go. I am currently updating a VM to 11.0.13 and the VM OS is Windows Server 2012. They might not have updated the Supported Environments page yet, but I'd bet my mortgage on the fact that Windows Server 2012 is still supported.

Cheers!

All,

Just installed 11.0.13.1 over my 11.0.12 version without any issues.
All is still working (including the legacy Studios-> don't use Chroom for that).

Client Software 11.0.13 is also working / available.

Cheers

sdf

have not read the fix list and release notes yet. Gonna stick with 11.0.11 for a while.

dougp

sdf:  You won't find a fix list.  IBM stopped producing them beginning with 11.0.12.

mfgf:  No wires crossed here.  That's the error message I get from the official IBM Cognos Analytics 11.0.0 Supported Software Environments page.  I still get that message.
Passport Advantage Online wants me to filter my search by OS and language.  Choosing English, if I filtered to Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard, I got the list I previously posted.  When I do the same thing now, I get everything.
Like I said, it's all about staging the deployment correctly.

dougp

Nope.  I spoke too soon.  Should have hit that little plus sign before posting...

Choosing English, if I filter to Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard, I still get the list I previously posted.  If I don't filter by OS, I get everything.  But since filtering to my OS doesn't give me the server software, and since my OS is not listed in the "Supported Software Environments", I come to one of two conclusions:

  • The English version of IBM Cognos 11.0.13 is not supported on Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard.
  • IBM isn't very good with managing data, creating high-quality reports, or performing application deployments.
I'd love to start testing, but it seems like a waste of time if IBM won't state that the software is supported on this platform.  I'll need to wait for them to get their act together.  That's alright.  I wasn't really planning to do this until December anyway.

But thanks for letting us all know that something changed on IBM's web site.

Hi Doug,

The installers are the same for all versions of Windows - that one critical piece of information is important here. Regardless of what IBM's site returns for specific version searches, all you need to do is a generic Windows search and you have what you need.

The whole idea of the Cognoise forum is to help each other - I hope you can see that the reason I posted this thread and the reason I'm sharing my knowledge with you here is to help you. You don't need to wait because the installers you need are right there, so this means you can begin the process of testing the new release right now if you want to.

I can see you are upset at IBM because they haven't properly updated the search parameters on their downloads page, but this is something you should take up with them directly - here at Cognoise we have no control over this. We're just here to help the people in our community. Making statements like "The English version of IBM Cognos 11.0.13 is not supported on Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard" isn't helpful or accurate - others with less experience than you or with English as a second language might read that in isolation and get entirely the wrong idea.

Cheers!
