Cognos Administration - on Premises vs Cloud

Hi,

What is the difference of security settings in terms of Roles, Users, Groups and Capabilities for Cognos Installation on Premises vs Cloud.

As on Premises installation has full control of all the Administration activities however this is taken care by IBM for Cloud installation. Hence, wanted to check if there are difference in security settings for on premises vs Cloud installation.

Please advise.

Hi,

With Cognos Analytics Software-As-A-Service in the cloud, you still use your own authentication provider, and you have access to manage the Cognos namespace and your own namespace, plus access to the Capabilities screen too.

The one big difference you will see is that you don't get access to all the tabs and features in the Administration Console. What you do get access to is:
Status:  Current/Past/Upcoming Activities;  Schedules.
Security:  Users, Groups, and Roles;  Capabilities.
Configuration:  Data Source Connections;  Content Administration;  Distribution Lists and Contacts;  Printers;  Styles;   Portlets.
Library:  Visualizations.

P.S: Not sure whom to contact but I was using 7 years old Cognoise account (SGD) but can't login now. The email address I have provided while registering this account is no more exist hence can't reset my password. That's why, I have to open new account as S.G.D. Can anyone please help me to get re-access my old account? Thanks in advance.

My Moderator super-powers don't stretch to being able to update other peoples' account details, unfortunately. I have dropped an email to Daryl, one of the Admins of the site at Techdata, asking if he can help out with this. I will update you when I hear more :)
