Since Oracle will now be charging for older versions of JAVA, how does that affect the JRE embedded with Cognos Analytics or in my case Cognos 10.2.2?  Does IBM purchase the license?  Will my older version unsupported version still have a valid Java license?  Is there any documentation on the IBM/Cognos website that I can present to my management to show that the license is taken care of by IBM?

If you are a developer then why do you have to worry about this?  Your management can ask your IBM salesrep.

cognostechie, I don't see where he said he was a developer. Could be he is "the Cognos guy" and somebody read about it and asked him.

In any case, I agree this is really a question for your IBM/Cognos rep. I suspect anything embedded in the product is IBM's problem, as I am sure they have other licensed software embedded in the bowels of the Cognos software. I have to wonder how Oracle can demand payment for something that has already been distributed, even if part of a package.

But really - ask your rep.

Well, I used some analytical ability to presume that h was a developer. He did indicate that he was not in the management and anybody else is part of the development team. 'The Cognos guy' also means a developer (junior/senior/team lead/BA or even a BI Manager).
