Hi,

I have been digging the net to find inforeagrding the capability snapshots.
But there where no clear cut results. I read somewhere that data sets replaced the snapshot capability but both capabilities are still available in CA11.0.11.

Any of you have idea regarding this. As default, everyone is set to the permission.
iam currently cleaning the roles/capabilities and would like to understand this.

This link explains how to use the capability.

https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSEP7J_11.0.0/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.wig_cr.doc/t_gtsd_data_sets.html

A data set, formerly known as snapshot, is an extraction of data from a data module or a package that is preserved in the columnar data store. You have the option for relational sources to aggregate data/suppress duplicates.

You can then use data sets as sources in a data module or dashboard.

So it's true, "Snapshot" capability before is now the capability "Data Set".
It is just confusing that if one replaces the other, why both capabilities are still available in Cognos Admin.
If I have different permissions set between the two, would that cause any issue in creating data sets?
Or should I just ignore "Snapshots".

Thanks Lynn!
