Usage of generated reports versus licenses

Hi,

I don't know where to put this question, so sorry if it is not the correct place.

Let's imagine that in a company a set of reports are generated daily (PDF, Excel, etc..) and sent to some users automatically per email. They are all Cognos users and the licenses are ok. So here, everything is fine.
Now, let's imagine that one of this users decides to push this reports to SharePoint in order to make the information available for 100 guys he is working with.
This guys are not Cognos users / no licenses for them.
Could this be considered as a "fraud" by IBM? Imagining that they would do an audit in order to check the licenses paid versus the usage in Cognos, and that finally somebody would inform them of this situation.
What is realistic?

Thanks!
V.

IBM does different licensing with different customers so it depends on what's written on your agreement.

Last I remember, when I integrated Cognos with Sharepoint, the licensing was applicable to users 'running' the report, not to anybody on the 'distribution list' or anybody receiving the report in any way. You might be ok with your approach but check the agreement just in case.

Hi,

Thanks for the answer.
I don't know anything about the licenses, I'll check with the responsible one. I was just asking because we "discovered" the situation, it hasn't been initiated by us, and I was wondering if it could be a problem or not.
