With my current client suddenly logo and other images stop being shown in PDF and Excel. We are all at a loss what is the cause of this. As far as we know nothing changed in settings and environment. I find some articles about it on the internet but I don't really grasp the source of our problem.

The logo image is in a folder on the same machine, outside of the Cognos directories. It's called with a http URL like it's on another internal machine.

Who knows what can cause this, especially when the same image was shown before and what I can check for?

Images usually need to be in the webcontent folder in your installation directory.

That I know. It's not and it was working while being somewhere else. It is in a folder that is configured in IIS. I like to hear from people who know why a working setup like that can stop working.

I am now trying to make it work as written in the install guide using WebDAV. I have installed WebDAV with the ISS web server. Now I have some problems with the final part. The instructions are vague to me there. Firstly I add the images folder in webcontent\samples, since it's missing with this installation. Then I add some WebDAV authoring rule. I just have no idea what to set in this rule exactly. Also for the security that is mentioned for images I have no idea what to put. Who will tell me how to do these last steps?

Update: I can browse for images. I was looking with my [^&%] when choosing the right Cognos environment. So I choose the image that is in the samples\images folder. Still it won't show in PDF, while it is shown in HTML. This is a totally different machine using its own local copy of the image. Any idea what the issue is then?

Yest another curious fact... The image is absent in Excel 2007, but is visible in Excel 2002... The Cognos version is 10.2.2.

Found the solution. Anonymous access has to be enabled on the images directory, see this one:
