Hi folks,

There are a ton of Cognos users who heavily rely on portal pages, and relying on the "band-aid" solution of bringing back C10 portal pages just isn't acceptable to the clients I've been working with.

While we could create landing pages with drill-through links to simulate portal pages, this doesn't address object security where users may not have access to reports on that landing page.

I'm currently writing a SDK application to address this, but I'm wondering what solutions others have been using in creating visually appealing portal pages while maintaining security. The "search" solution in Cognos is not an acceptable alternative, as clients need feature-rich landing pages (reports, news, videos, etc)...

Cheers,
Jay

As of v11.0.11 cognos supports opening existing portal pages in the glass UI and you can set them as Home / Landing page.

FixItNow

So version 11.0.11 allows old portals to still be used, but you can't make new ones. Or use new stuff with the old portals, like interactive reports, dashboards, etc. (https://www.ibm.com/communities/analytics/cognos-analytics-blog/portal-pages-in-cognos-analytics-r11/).
So...
What's the "vision" for someone setting up new CA 11 environments?

Portal Tabs were useful, because you could assign people a couple of tabs and then they had a very simple interface. Click on a tab, run a report. And they got a new report as soon as the admin added the shortcut to the folder the portal was pointing at.

I'm sure I'm missing something, but what's the super user friendly "here's your two (or three) lists of reports you can run" functionality in CA 11?

Thanks
Paul
