Will FM11 work with BI Server 10.2.2?

My client is in the process of upgrading to Cognos 11. Also will FM become available to developers for the first time.

It 's a bit unusual I suppose, but administration has FM 11 installed. We also still have Cognos Bi Server 10.2.2 in production. Does anyone know if this combination will be able to function?

Hi,

have not tested it but I do know you can open older models. However, even a difference in fix pack level of framework manager to Cognos BI leads to errors so I doubt you can savely publish a package with FM11 into Cognos 10.2.2.

Best solution is a second FM installation for the C10 version. Even then you will have problems opening models saved in 11 with your FM 10. You can manually edit the model.xml to change the version each time should you need it (the part 60/11 to 60/something).

Hi,

You can't publish from a Framework Manager 11 install to a Cognos 10 server. As Reinhard suggests, you'll need two versions of FM - one for Cognos 10 and one for Cognos Analytics. This works fine with 10.2.2 and 11.0.11 - they will happily co-exist and I tried it recently. I remember Redrichmond posting that there was an issue with one specific version of FM 11 co-existing with FM 10 - I think it was 11.0.10 - but the post was lost during the recent server migration at Techdata, so I can't point you to it.

You will need to make sure that you keep your 10.2.2 models and your 11 models separate - if you open a 10.2.2 model in FM 11 and save it, you will then not be able to use it in FM 10.2.2 after that.

Cheers!

MF.
