Unable to rename a data item label to show different text

I have a member called region 1. I wanted to rename it when showed in gauge chart . I dont see an option to change the data item to dataitem label in cognos 11, Even though there is a label property it will show what i give there.

Any help is appreciated . I am draggign a data item adding region 1 to it and renaming the label .

There is a text source property that reads "Member caption"? What happens if you change it to Data Item Label and specify the particular column's label that you'd like to see?

Those are the properties for a query item in the query. Look at the properties for that item in your chart.
