Hi cognos wizards,
I am working in a relational package.
I am trying to create an active report with a data list, and 2 charts all to be filtered by a data-button-bar. When I add an overall summary (total) to the list and run the report I get following error: Report specifications contains an error at line 473 column 9073.
looking at the error details shows me this: Element 'XMLAttributes' is not valid for content model: 'All(style,)'
I have added one extra category to the data list to be able to filter it.
I have tried to have a look at the report specifications but not really sure what I am looking for.
Has anyone had a similar problem or will be able to help?

Thanks in advance,
Andreas

Hi,

You didn't specify what you did to add the overall summary to your list. Did you use one of the 'Summarize in output' choices?

Hi MFGF,

Thanks for your answer and sorry for not being more specific.

It's the 'summarise in output' functionality that I am after as I want the summary to update when I filter the report with my data_button_bar, however, I don't get the usual summarise options in a data list that you would get in a normal list.

I am adding the summary in data list properties > overall summary > enable summaries (total).

This is the only place that I can find to add summaries in this type of list.

The reason I need to use a data list over a normal list is that I want to filter the list on a data dimension that I don't want displayed in the list.

Kind regards,
Andreas

Hi,

I always use a normal list, and add the item to filter on as a list column, then set the "Column visibility" property of this list column to Hidden. You can use the Summarize in output summaries with this approach...

Thanks MF,

I use this approach too and it works well in some scenarios, however not in this case.

My report is a daily report that shows a number of revenue figures for the last 7 days. 1 row per date. I want to filter my list by AM or PM departures using my variable that holds either AM, PM or Null. If I add the data item AMPM to my list and hide it, I will still get 2 rows per date before I apply the filter for AM PM. Does that make sense?

Thanks for your input and - I think I will give up and leave it as is.
