Hello Cognoise,

If I have to install a dispatcher (app tier) on a different server other than the main server (in which gateway, primary dispatcher, and content manager resides), I wonder how do we know or figure out which port to be used? I believe that the port used must be different when compared to the one used (usually the default port 9300) on the main server?

I understand that we can do the netstat, but it would only display the ones that are already in use or listening right?

Please advise.

Hi,

If you are installing on a different server, you can use the same port number with no issues. You only need to switch port numbers if you're installing a second instance of the Cognos architecture on a server that already has Cognos 10 installed. From your description above, it doesn't look like this is the case?

Cheers!
