Field of Alias in Database Layer is seen with different data type?

I am now working at a client who does joining at the database layer. I now have 3 versions of a date dimension; one original of the database table and 2 aliases. One of the fields is the actual date, which is of the data type date. When I apply a filter with this field using a date based function, with the date field of the actual table all is well. When I use the same field from an alias, it complains that it expects a date, but gets a number. WT*? How is this possible? How can I correct this? I miss any option to manipulate any individual fields of the alias, and the original version works...

Never mind, it was some sleepiness from my side doing the relationships on a wrong field... Please delete this post of shame!  :-[

There's no need for shame. You should see some of the gaffes I made over the years! :)
