Using DB field value for prompt default

Currently using 11.0.5, How to set the default value of a report prompt to be the value in a database field?  i.e. the fiscal year for the report(s).  The DB field is updated when the FY rolls over and needs to be reflected in the reports without someone having to update manually.  The prompt should be presented as the default, with the user having the ability to change.  I'm not tripping over this in the documentation.  Any insight on how to pull this off of where to look would be greatly appreciated.

AFAIK there is, unfortunately, no way to set default selections to be a dB field value other than using JavaScript.
