Hi,
We have cognos 10.2.2 environment set up with two app servers(each with two cognos instances) and each with 4 cpu cores. Now reduced the number of cores to 2 on each server. But we are having report failures with exceed in wait time. So we are thinking of going with one app server and 4 cpu cores. Is this going to help us?.
Server: Windows 2012 R2
RAM: 48 GB
let me know for any additional information.

The best practice for multiple dispatcher instances on a single server dates back to the 32 bits era, where the jvm would start to struggle at around 16 cores per instance and the max memory a jvm could handle.

In this day and age of 64 bits JVM and DQM it proves no purpose, other then needed for specific functionality routing.
If that is not the case, I would suggest to no longer use it.
