Assigning Colors to Different Bars in the Bar Chart (Cognos Report Studio)

Hi Guys, I have the data items for the chart dropped in the Series (Primary) to have the data items's chart bars in different colors but since the client wants to see the Labels under each Bar, I have to drop them under the Category X-Axis also. This is causing a duplication of Bars for each Data item I'm dropping on these two areas. Attached shows the issue.

How can I achieve this that the Bars are in different colors based on what I can assign color wise and the labels are showing under each Bar.

Pls help!!

Thanks so much! :) :)

You can achieve this by leaving the series blank and putting the data item only in the X axis. Then right click on series and select conditional palette and create an advanced conditional palette based on your x axis data item values and set the colours as you want them. You will also want to turn off the legend for this as it will appear strangely otherwise.
The problem with doing it this way is that it is very manual and requires upkeep whenever your x axis values change, so depending on what kind of values these are and how often they are likely to change this may not be a feasible long term solution.

Hi Stepheria, Thanks for your time.
I actually tried this but I wasn't getting the Colors.

So, I took off all the Measures (like Sold=12, not Sold=11) from the Series Primary Access. I  then
right clicked on the Blank Series Primary Access and assigned the conditions in the Advanced Conditioning Pallet.
For the condition, I put in Dragged the [L_status].[Sold] and added<>0 for the Condition. Same for the other ones.
[L_status].[Sold]<>0

But the colors are not changing, it seems like the first one Sold is changing but the others are not changing.
Thanks for your help.

I don't think I was clear, when I said "create an advanced conditional palette based on your x axis data item values"
The X axis data item values in this case would be the labels that come out from that data item not the values from the measure e.g. if you have a data item [products] with values Table, Chairs, etc. and the labels appearing along the bottom of your chart are Table, Chairs, etc then your conditional palette should look like [products] = 'Table' or [products] = 'Chairs'
Hopefully this helps.
