FYI Cognos 8 BI 8.3 has been released  ;D

Some changes i noticed:
download now comes with a BI Sample Installation (Separate Download)
The 8.3 user guides has been improved

Transformer has been re-engineered so it is now a "true" Cognos 8 application.

Uses Cognos8 security,
Unicode data can be used,
Can use C8 Reports/Packages as datasources (no need for externalizing IQDs any more)
Custom Views much more flexible
Can publish cubes directly to Cognos Connection without involving Framework manager.

Interesting news

Seems to me that because Transformer will "reworked", they'll probably charge for it.

Hi,

To the best of my knowledge, it's still bundled in with the Administrator license.  I'm not aware of plans to change this...

Hi,

I downloaded and installed Cognos BI 8.3
Something is not right with it on my computer.

I can not see any icons even on the welcome page.
It seems to be working aside from this.

did anyone experience the same?
If yes then what is the solution?

thanks

Bence

Hi,

Sounds to me like you may have an issue in the definition of your web server's virtual directories.  Double-check that they are configured as per the installation guide.

I know that this is as old as heck, but when I encountered the same thing, it was because I did not update the Gateway on the webserver 8.3 as well as it still had 8.2 installed.

After I upgraded the gateway on the web server, it worked like a charm.   :)

Transformer 8.3 still have its flaws, there is no way to refresh the cube unless you disable the data source.

Transformer 8.4 have new functionality called cube publish and activate which works like the old enable and disable in Series 7.
