Hi All,

Is there any guidelines to categorize the Cognos report to be built on the below categories

1. Simple
2. Medium
3. Complex
4. Very Complex

Have to categorize the reports to be built on the above categories and then provide an estimation for the report development.

Request all experts here to provide some insight on the same as this estimation part is new for me.

Regards
Raghuvir

Not sure how you would go about categorising the reports. Ideally, most of the complexity should be taken care of in the framework model. You might do something as pragmatic as going to the design of the report and rating the difficulty somewhere on the scale of "that's so easy I don't why they even need a report for that" to "ye Gods! What were they on when they wrote this and where can I get some?" all the way through to "I think my brain has just melted"

I agree with Chris, it all depends on the context you are developing on. Not just the framework model, but already the underlying Data Warehouse model (assuming you are given one actual Data Warehouse in a single database / schema to work with). The framework can fix some issues of your database model, but not all. Choices in types of facts have an impact on the choices you have to make later in your reports.
