Relative path to package

I have a situation where I have more environments for my underlying data source than I have Cognos environments. Unfortunately adding additional Cognos environments to achieve one to one match is not an available option.

To ger around this I have a data source with multiple connections (user is prompted to choose a connection at report run time). I also have a two folders for each data source environment. One folder has reports/packages which are intended for production version of my data source.  The other has reports/packages intended to be release candidate of my data source.

What I envisioned is that when my end users approve the release candidate to go to production I simply copy reports/packages from one folder to the other and the package location is relative and no changes are required.  However, this does not appear to be supported - using 10.2.2.  I would love to hear if there is a relative path feature to the package in the report which I am not aware of - or any other creative solutions to handle more data source environments than Cognos environments.
