Thanks,

I'm pretty sure the RAVE visualization pie allows this. If I'm remembering correctly, it has a ShowValues property you can set.

Cheers!

Thanks for your response MF,

The problem is that the client need many customization like different palettes colors and % sizing, ...

Is there any way to do that in the basic charts ?

Thanks,

No :)

You can re-size visualizations, and you can modify the code to add a palette property with your own palettes if you need to.

From cognos 10.2.2 u can user RAVE visualization to  custom charts in your common reports, before 10.2.2 RAVE visualization only use in active reports.

anyway u can use charts plug(like echarts, hcharts, etc.) to meet the needs of your client

It is a great Idea, I've used JCharts, Google charts any many JS charts libraries in some web applications, It will be a great idea to use it in Cognos. I will for sure give it a try.
Thanks linbai  :)

Or you can leave the pies for dessert and go for ordered bar charts instead.

Was tempted to make this quip as well, however, some of us are simply in a position where it is our job to just create reports with sometimes more, and sometimes less creative freedom. As in, sometimes a stakeholder comes to us and says "I want this report", and they will already have a mockup that they came up with themselves. Or it may be a report they got in a prior company. Or whatever.

It is only a very small part of my job to educate the recipients why pie charts are not a good idea. If I have freedom in designing a report, I will use a visualization better suited for the job, but if some of my stakeholders want a damn pie chart, they damn well get a bloody pie chart.

Look at it this way: I'm operating a garage. Guy comes to me with his Dodge Viper, or his Porsche 911, or his Lambo, or Corvette, or what have you, and they want it fixed up with a trailer coupling. Yes, I do raise an eyebrow, but in the end, I'll fix up their perfectly nice car with a bloody trailer coupling, because doing so is what puts food on my table.

I know it too Hespora. I am just still very much an educator. Being taught by the master himself last year, only strengthened this to me. Luckily for me I can choose my clients and projects. I think there is no harm in at least starting the conversation with my client.

My garage does only certain brands of cars...  ;)
