Hi all,

I'm using CA 11.0.5 and I would create dashboards using FM models.
So, using FM 11, i published an FM model (created last year using FM included in Cognos BI 10.2.2) in DQM mode.
After clicking on the + button in order to create a dashboard and after selecting  the package, a "Create dataset" window is displayed
But I don't want create a dataset... I just want use the package
I tried to perform the same actions using samples and, with go sales (query) package, all works well
What's wrong in my package?
Many thanks in advance for your advices

EDIT:
I verified that if the package contains a DMR view and a relational view, a dataset creation window is displayed, while if I edit the package definition and I publish only the relational view all works well. Can you confirm that "create dataset" window is due to both views (DMR and relational)?

Hi,

In the R5 release, only pure relational packages (published to use DQM) can be used directly in a dashboard. If your package contains any dimensional constructs (DMR, OLAP cubes etc) you will be forced to create a flat data set for use in your dashboard. I believe support for dimensional packages is slated for a future release...

ok thanks...what do you think about dashboard functionalities provided in CA?
I loved Cognos Workspace and I think new CA dashbord are, yes...very pretty, but very limited about filtering, sorting and  other advanced customizations
Are you agree?

Actually the opposite. I think the fact that filtering is automatic makes things far easier in the new dashboards. Sorting is really simple - just expand the widget and select the item - the sort icon is right there on the toolbar.

ok...I'm sorry for the off topic, but how can I sort a chart axis using another field?
for example, in a chart I have a month description which I would sort using the month number...
I'm trying to perform this without success.

Many thanks again for your time

Hi,

This is something you'd set up in your data module. You can go to the properties of your Month Name item, expand the Advanced area, and enable the Sort switch, then pick which item to sort on (Month number).

I don't use data module but FM packages. I don't find the advanced area you wrote... What's wrong?? ...sorry...

It's not in FM, it's in the Data Modules piece :)

aaaaarghhhhhhhh!!!! So, using FM models i can't sort my data using different fields???????  discouraging....

Rosanero4Ever,

I share your pain. We have so many workspaces with multiple tabs being driven by global filters. Lots of these widgets and even the prompts that we used in both the global filters and filters in each tab are built in report studio with advanced features. We have even provided pre-built prompts that users can use to build their global filters. All this stuff no more possible in the new dashboard. Hopefully they will be introduced eventually!!!

And yeah, we cannot build data modules and need these from direct packages.

Thanks,
Kiran

Moreover...this is a bit off topic...if you want add an image to your report so must be able to browse images folder. For this purpose, you must activate WebDav using IIS. So you must performed a custom installation with the gateway installed! Discover this after installing might be a problem!  :o :o
So...i think it isn't true the gateway component was removed.
Ok...cognos works the same without the gateway but you can't browse folders for example if you want to add an image... :-\
