Good morning ,

I have three .tab files for a country and I want to convert them to .gst to be used in cognos report using map manager.

I've tried MapInfo with no luck and I've found some tutorials telling that there is a file in cognos installation called "GeoSetManager.exe" but it is not exist.

Do anyone have a direct way to achieve that.

Thanks,
Yasser

Hi,

I'm not an expert in MapInfo, but as I understand it, a .gst file is just a wrapper that describes what you have in your included .tab files. You should be able to create a new workspace, bring in your tab files, and save a .gst? Can you elaborate on what you tried in MapInfo already? GeoSetManager was a utility included in the Cognos 7 Visualizer product, but it's not part of Cognos 8/10/11

Cheers!

Hi,

Thank you MF for your response

I've tried exactly what you have mentioned but there is no option to export as .gst, only .tab and images extensions are allowed. Also I've tried the universal translator option but there is no .gst extension to be exported to. and I've tried a software called FME workbench which is supposed to include more extensions but also .gst is not included.

Thanks,
Yasser

Hi,

Isn't a .gst what you get natively when saving a workspace? I might be remembering incorrectly, though - it's been over a decade since I touched it...

Thanks again for your reply,

I think the default save extension is .wor or .mws.

This should be a perfect solution but the "MapX Geoset Utility" tools in not exist in the tool manager and I'm not founding it to be registered in the tools.

Thanks again,

Thanks again,

I'd guess that's a question for one of the MapInfo communities?

If someone faced the same problem,

The option is not included in the 64 version, it is in the v15.0 (32-bit version) you can download from here

Thanks again MF,
