Hi there!!!

Does someone know how to change Analyst & Contributor to point to another Access Manager server? Looks pretty easy to do but once you change Access Manager â€" Runtime on the Configuration Manager, they stop working.

I was able to make Analyst to work but contributor opens with out no Applications and doesn’t let you do anything, it can be reverted if you change the Access Manager â€" Runtime to point to the old server.

I need to change from one Access manager server to another one because it is installed in an old server and we are planning to get rid of it; the new server has the exact same structure (users & groups). The Access manager versions are different though, the old one is 15.2 and the new one is 16.0

As you can see we have the security in one server an the applications in separate servers, all the other Cognos Apps worked well with the change ;except Analyst and Contributor.

Some ideas???

Thanks,

try this.

start the access manager and go to tools
and select runtime configuration, and run the wizard
after u done with this.

Go access manager configuration and validate and apply then stop and start the access manager service

hope this works.

Contributor PAD is tied to Access Manager Namespace, so it should be the same namespace from AM point of view.
I'd rather backup'ed & restored namespace you're using on a different directory server, w\o upgrading and such.

Hi BI007 and Void,

I try what BI007 told me and this works with Analyst but not with Contributor. And Void it has to be the new AM with the new Namespace, business policy  :-\, is there another way to make the PAD to point to another Access Manager Namespace, a totally new one???

Let me know if you have some other ideas, I'll keep trying more things here, I'll let you know how it goes.

I really appreciate your help.

Thanks

If you change the name space, you will need to create a new PAD, then add the applications back to the PAD,
before do that export the macros and admin links from the old PAD to XML format then re import them back to the new PAD.

;D It works, thanks a lot. I've also found the some good help over the Cognos knowledge base Document # 1034767.2 and in the "Contributor Admininistrator 7.3MR1.pdf" page 35 "Move Applications from One Planning Administration Domain to Another".

Thanks a lot.

I'll post more questions later.
