How to create a bar code in Cognos Report Studio?

Good morning,

I have to transform a number (work order number) into the corresponding bar code.
I selected the 'work order' item and I chose the 'IDAutomationC128XL' font from the 'Properties' panel (it seems to be the only barcode font available in the font drop down list).
I run the report and the barcode appears correctly but the barcode device does not read it.
Do I miss anything?
Is the 'IDAutomationC128' the only barcode font available?
How can I add other barcode libraries?
Someone also told me that I have to add an asterisk '*' before and after the work order number. Is it correct?

I need help.
Please let me know.
I appreciate for your attention.

Best Regards.

here's a link to the barcode standard (payable!): http://www.iso.org/iso/catalogue_detail.htm?csnumber=43896
and here's a link to your font: http://www.idautomation.com/barcode-fonts/code-128/

There's documentation and a user manual there. What formatting your barcode needs to be readable inside your org, only someone inside your org will be able to tell you, not us. Code128 is used for plenty of data standards; EAN-128, GS1-128 and HIBC are just a few of those, plus it can be used for plenty of proprietary formats. What your barcode will need to look like, you will have to ask within your organization.
