G'day all

I have been experiencing a variety of strange behaviors when in the CA11.0.4 Report Editor Design view.
Most of the time I am using FireFox 49.0.2.  Most of the time I can see the report page in the Design editor.  On occasion when I couldn't I switched to Structure view and back again and then the page is visible.  Today that's not working for me!

I tested in other browsers I have available and get the following:

MS Edge - get the error "Unable to get property 'cloneNode' of defined or null reference http://servername:9305/bi/pat/rsapp.htm 104"

IE11 - Error flashes on screen then editor opens.  Report Design view hides page but can edit in Structure view.

Chrome 54.0.2840.71 m - very slow!  As with IE I can't see the page to edit in Design view but can in Structure view.

Any one else with similar experience?

Cheers,

Blue

Hi Blue,

Nope - not seeing that here. Things to try:

1. Download the ESR build of Firefox and try that. I'm using ESR 45.4.0 and not seeing issues.
2. Make sure IE11 isn't set to Compatibility mode.
3. Don't use Edge - it's not a supported browser.
4. I'm using Chrome 58.0.2840.99 m and not seeing issues. Might be worth updating Chrome?

Sanity check. Do you see the same issues if you point your browser at the free CA trial https://cognosnext.bi.ibmcloud.com/bi/

Also, try clearing your browser cache if you've previously used older releases.

Cheers!

Getting same result after completely purging cache and more from FF, and tried FF ESR45.3.0.

I'm going to check if other users get the same result.

BTW, after clearing FF of anything stored, it now also behaves like the other browsers - page not visible in Design view editor, only Structure view.

I had set the page options to display hidden objects by default.  Somehow this got turned off between editing sessions.  After turning Show Hidden Objects at the page body level back on, I can now see and edit the report in Design view.

Interesting! I will see if I can emulate this here. Thanks for the update :)

I opened up two separate windows to compare two separate reports side by side.  In one the design view displayed the page body, in the other it didn't!  I checked the options and sure enough one was set to display hidden objects, as I saved it, and the other was not set.  Same logon, same instance, same browser version, different windows, different reports.

Maybe the setting is report specific.
