Error when setting filter application to After Auto Aggregation

I have a report where I have to filter out certain values of the final list. So I change the application property to "After Auto Aggregation". Now the report fails with this error:
Fatal: vector<T> too long

We are using Cognos 10.1

Who knows what the reason is for this error?
Few can be done on Cognos | RTFM for those who ask basic questions...
