Hi,
Using Cognos report studio 10.2, is it possible to log in as cognos admin and schedule a report to run as a different user with a lower level of access?  I have a feeling I was told in training that this was not possible, just need to check.
Thanks, Kay

Your trainers lied to you Kay :). It's possible.

There are several components to this:

1. The schedule runs under the Owner of the report. If you have permissions, you can log in using your desired account, set the properties on the report, go to the 'Report' tab, and click 'Make me the owner'.

2. When you run a report, it runs using your account. When you run with advanced options, there's a checkbox that says 'Run as the owner'. Note: to be able to run as the owner, the owner must go into their 'My Preferences' and give you or a group/role permission to use trusted credentials.

Thanks Jay, that is sort of what I am after but...
I use the cognos admin login but I want to schedule the report as "Fred" using Fred's credentials.  I don't know Fred's password to be able to log in as Fred.  From your response, I need to copy the report to Fred's folder and set Fred as the owner, then schedule the report?  Can that be done as cognos admin?
Thanks, Kay

No need to copy the report to Fred's folder. The options are:

1. Fred is not the owner of the report. Fred logs in, selects 'Make me the owner' and schedules the report.

2. Fred is the owner of the report. Fred gives you Trusted Credentials (permission to use his account) in Cognos under his Profile->My Preferences page. You can then run the report yourself as an admin, and select the option to 'Run as the owner'.

Unfortunately we are spoon feeding the report audience and Fred isn't up for scheduling his own reports  :(
I have created report views of the original report to run for each recipient with their parameters and will be scheduling those.
