Want to show All Sales Channels by default

Hi All,

I have three components in Cognos 10.2.2 Workspace. There should be interactivity among these 3 components.
It is a dimensional Modelling from SSIS cube.

1 component-->  Showing Sales Measure broken down by Sales Channels
2 component --> Showing Sales Measure broken down by Product Categories
3 component -->  List showing top 10 Products with Sales Measure broken down by Product Categories, Sales Channels. The List report should show Top 10 Products with
                              Data Items     1. Products  2. Product Categories, 3. Sales Channels 4. Sales Measure and 5. Sales %  .
     


Relationship: Products  -- Products Category (1:1)
                   Products -- Sales channel(1:n)

I turned on Master Filter option and interactivity working accurately on the above 3 components.

The challenge here is
As soon as we execute the dashboard. we should be able to see All Sales Channels data item in the list report. only when we select particular Sales Channel from the first component, then only the list report should show that particular Sales Channel item in the list report.

Please advise how to achieve this

I do not have experience using master filters, but I will offer an idea since no one else jumped in.

As I understand it, master filters link together the three components so whichever one you select something, it propagates to the other components. So are there prompts or anything set up on any of the three components/reports that prevent them from running until a selection is made? With a master filter enabled, I could see that a prompt on one might prevent any of the components from populating until the prompt is satisfied.

I haven't created any prompts on any of the data items. As it is dimensional modelling the Sales Channel data item Level 1 is All Sales Channels and Level 2 is 10 different Sales channels.

The business user wants to see All Sales Channel column  for the top10 products in the List widget as soon as he opens the Cognos workspace.
Once he selected particular Sales channel from the first widget(pie chart), he would like to that particular sales channel to be displayed in the list widget for the top 10 products.

Please advise how to achieve this.

Hi,

Filtering in Cognos Workspace doesn't change the list of items being displayed - it simply applies filters to the data already included. You can't have a filter that changes which data items are displayed (eg switching from the All Sales Channels level to the Sales Channel level in your hierarchy).

Have you thought about allowing drill-down? Assuming your Sales Channel level is immediately below your All Sales Channels level in the Sales Channel hierarchy, you could allow your user to drill down on the All Sales Channels member to see the sales channels. A master filter (or any sort of Workspace filter) won't do this automatically, though, so your user would need to know they have to do it themselves.
