Active report not aggregating data after filtering

Hello folks,

I am trying to build an active report with visualization and a list. To give an example of the issue, I used Go Sales (query) package to report Order Quantity in each Year which is filtered for one ore more Order Methods for which I used a Data Check Box Group to filter the data. Please note that Order Method Type is not displayed, so I would not expect the data displayed to be broken at this level.

Data seems to be filtered correctly but the display is not accommodating itself to aggregate the remaining values, whether filtered or unfiltered.

In the first_attachment, you will see a visualization line chart and a list. The list has data for all order methods but are broken as if I have the column on the list but is hidden. I would expect to see one row per year with quantity rolled up to a year. The second_attachment also proves that the displayed values are incorrect. Notice the overall total is actually for all order methods and not just for E-mail, Fax and Mail together.

The visualization chart seems to behave differently though but not as expected. It may be drawing the lines for aggregated values but the Y-axis scale does not accommodate to the data that's being reported with change in filter criteria.

Could anyone you suggest if this is a known issue or limitation in active reports? Or am I missing to understand it correctly?

Thanks,
Sha

Hi,

There are two things going on here - the list not aggregating the filtered values, and the visualization not re-drawing the axes based on the filtered values.

You can fix the first by changing the aggregates in the list. When you use the "Aggregate" button on the toolbar, there is a section at the bottom called "Summarize in output". If you use aggregates from this section, they will automatically recalculate within the rendered active report when you filter the list.

For the visualization, if you click on the measure value in the data section of the visualization and look in the Properties pane, you will see a "Value range" property. Set this to "Filtered data".  There are also similar properties for the Categories and Series values - if you are filtering these (here the property is called Category Range).

Cheers!

MF.

My bad, I missed the attachments. Sorry!
One attachment in original post and one here. Thanks.

Thanks MF. You rock! I changed the Value Range and it seemed to be flexible with the filtered data.
The "summarize in output" also is working for the grand total row, but I still see the granular levels (highlighted in the picture) which must be for each order method selected. Can that be controlled too?

Another issue I just noticed - if there is only one value selected in the check box, the line color changes to amber. Not sure why?
