Issue With Report Updating After In-Page Prompt

I'm scratching my head on this one.

In 10.X, I've often put a set of Value Prompts atop a report with a Finish button.  Users select values and click Finish to update the the report  (a simple List).

I've done the same in this Cognos 11 report, but am finding that, after I've done this (selected a value and click finish) once, the list stops updating (the filter updates and the report runs, but the list never actually updates).

I have the local cache turned off on the queries.  I've also attempted Auto-Submit (with interactivity enabled).

I've also tried this with IE and Chrome; same issue in both.

I have another similar report that is not having this issue.

Any idea if I'm missing something, or if this is a bug?

Hi,

As a sanity check, change the "Run with full interactivity" property to No (at the Report level) and run it again. Do you see the same behaviour?

Sorry for the delay in response; was out of office last week.

Indeed, I get the same behavior with full interactivity disabled at the report level.

All I can think of is that the value prompt has a lot of values (thousands) in it.  But, that still doesn't really explain why the report runs initially from the prompt page and updates properly the first time it is filtered from the in-page prompt.

Definitely concerning for me, as I need Cognos 11 to be production-ready.  Never had this issue with 10.X.

I tried something similar and it's behaving normally for me. What release of Cognos Analytics do you have?

We're on release 11.0.1

I'm experimenting with building the report from scratch in parallel, and thus far it appears to be working.  I may have copied and pasted the Value Prompt from the page to the prompt page in the first build; I wonder if that caused the issue?

You're two releases behind now - might be worth thinking about moving up to a newer build?

We upgraded to 11.0.3 over the weekend and the report is still having the same issue.

Running into a similar issue with another report.

Each time I run the report, it fetches fresh data.  When I do an in-report-page filter (text prompts), one filter/parameter is not filtering at all, and another filter/parameter is only filtering cached data (source table data had changed since report was run).

I have the query's Use Local Cache set to No

Is there some other caching setting that I'm missing?  When I apply an in-report filter/parameter, I want it to fetch fresh data when a filter is applied.

I had the same problem so I started copying parts of the report to a new report, a few parts at a time, to see if I could isolate one factor.  In the end, removing the association of a query with the whole page and replacing that with a singleton fixed the problem.

hello everyone ... Even i have a similar issue ....damn frustrated with Cognos 11..we have migrated all our cognos 10 (latest version) reports to Cognos Analaytics 11.0.7 (latest one) and exact same issue whereas one prompt control doesnt work on report page it just refreshes but the data doesnt change at all... The only thing i observed is , this is happening in dimensional reports and not relational reports ...My cube based reports are throwing these issue however its difficult to understand because some other reports (dimensional) are still working fine...Unable to narrow down the issue....Has any one got any solution yet on tis .

Hi All,

In my latest test environment, i have tried below option and it worked.

Navigate to \webcontent and copy the "prompting" folder into "\webcontent\bi", Restart services and test to see if the issue persists

But due to this, prompt page will is squeezed to the left side of the page, but Prompt will work as normal.

Thanks,
Suresh.
