Oracle views over Table in FM modelling

Can someone help me to identify  why we normally use oracle views instead of table while Cognos modeling ?
I guess it is due to security reasons and its best practice.

Hi,

It isn't best practice to use views rather than tables in your model - or vice versa. You use whichever is appropriate. You will need to ask internally within your organization to establish the reason you are doing this.
