I'm implementing NTLM security in Cognos8, I created the namespace, users can log-on with their NT user-id/passwords, Can I restrict the access of users. Also can I set the permission from cognos connection i.e tools> direcory. I'm able to view the network groups,Can I update the permissions of the network groups or can I delete the network groups from there.please reply As it is Very urgent.

1. yes (restrict the access of users) , yes (permission from cognos connection), it will not effect your local windows network groups.

2. use the NTLM namespace in cognos connection for setting individual properties for users, like portal settings, preferences etc.
for access rights you will need to add the users/groups from the NTLM namespace into respective cognos groups, and set
   necessary   permissions.

3. for security first step will be to create a new admin username and add this user to the system admin group inside
Cognos directory, then disable the Everyoneuser.
also Disable anonymous access in cognos configuration.

If you could more clear like what kind of permissions you want setup it will usefull for us to answer.

Hope this helps

I want to create two userids, one user-id has full access to reports and another user-id for only read and execute the reports (should not have write access) .

i have the same situation. All the NTLM users are able to login and see the contents in cognos portal without adding the users from NTLM namespace to Cognos namespace. How we can restrict all the users from login into cognos portal without adding them to cognos namespace.

thanks

@Lia; in Cognos Configuration enable the option "restrict access to members of the built in namespace".

That way you need to be a member of at least 1 congos group to be able to access the portal at all.
