Why IBM given query studio, if report studio is sufficient?

Hi guys,

I attended one interview, where interviewer asked me the difference between RS and QS.

I answered as follows
(a) Generally we use query studio for testing purpose as data  is displayed on the fly, or for creating ad hoc reports. no more features are there as in RS. QS reports can be opened and edited in RS, but not vice versa.
(b)RS is used to develop enterprise and professional reports.

But interviewer didnot agree with my points , and said as

(a) if data is coming on the fly, then this disadvantages.
(b) Only for testing , seeing the data and creating of ad hoc reports, why IBM will provide this tool, as these can be done at RS side as well...

So, can u please elaborate the reason, why QS is there in COGNOS BI suit.

I searched in google , but did not find moderate reason...

I think the original intention was that Query Studio was designed for use by non-technical business authors, and Report Studio was designed for technically savvy power authors. One requires a day (or less) to get trained in. The other can involve 8 days training. You should be aware that Query Studio isn't going to exist for very much longer, though. Its days are numbered.
