Hi,

I am using cognos dimensional reporting ,and for the below scenario , i am facing an issue to retain the formatting on a row.

Have Region, Distributor and Subregion nested  in the rows of the report which are 3 different levels from a single dimension, there is a filter on subregion to show only if it has more than 1 sub region.

Now in columns I have products and one Percentage to Quota column .

Now when there are no subregions for a distributor row belonging to that Distributor is not formatted.

Will I be able to do the formatting here ?

Thanks,
Nithya

Where are you applying the data format? Crosstab cells? Crosstab member cells - if so for which row/column members? Somewhere else?

so here is an example

                                                               Product       PTQ
East   Distributor1  subregion1               14000        67.85%
                               subregion2               45000       78.95%
                               Total                         69000        73.25%
        Distributor2                                     75000        0.73

        Distributor3     Subregion1               54545      67.25%
                                 Total                        54545       67.25%

so here formatting on the row Distributor 2 which has no subregions , I am not able to any formatting , like PTQ value not showing in Percentage and cant make the row bold, as this row is not in the layout design

Hi,

As above, where exactly in the crosstab have you applied the data format? What did you select when defining?

The formatting is applied on SubRegions and Total of subregion rows.

When there are no subregion for a distributor then I dont see formatting on  Distribuotr2 as shown below, which will not have any fact cells associated with it  as it has no sub regions.

Thanks,
Nithya

Ok. Try right-clicking on the Distributor level row headings and choose "Select member fact cells" then apply the format there.

If I select the distributor level and right click and select member fact cells it still doesnt work for the PTQ columns,

The value is shown as 0.65 instead of 65% as the PTQ formatting is applied only to subregion cell which is visible in the layout and not to Distributor whose fact cells are not available in layout.

Attached the screenshot of the layout and the report highlighting the issue.
If you see in the screenshot for regions with out country I dont have cells corresponding to the Sales Region, they belong only to country and total.
And I can right click Sales Region and select member fact cells will only allow me to set same kind of formatting to all member fact cells in it.

How Do I change PTQ to be percent for Sub regions without country here?

cognos05

Any suggestions on this, I am still working on this issue!!

Thanks,
Nithya
