we are having cognos running in windows os , planning to migrate from windows to Linux , What are all the steps we need to consider in terms of cognos perspective. is there any specific configuration to be done in order to execute cognos reports in linux environment. Also we are migrating MySQL to Maria DB . Will cognos support mariadb ?

I never heard of Maria DB, and I haven't seen it in the list of supported data source connections for Cognos. It's possible you might be able to connect via ODBC, but generally ODBC drivers are available for Windows platforms and less so for Linux / Unix.

As other have said Cognos doesn't support MariaDB nativity, you can find Linux ODBC drivers for it at https://downloads.mariadb.org/connector-odbc/2.0.9/ not sure how good it is though. You might also be able to use the MySQL ODBC drivers depending on your version of MariaDB.

Other than that Cognos on Linux is the same as Cognos on Windows once its installed and configured. The install and config are pretty similar too, some paths and file names change as you would expect, and if you've been using IIS as the web server that will be different, but that's about it.

The documentation form IBM is actually very good, you can get the PDF's from http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27042003 and the on line version is http://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSEP7J_10.2.2/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.cbi.doc/welcome.html. bithe those links are for 10.2.2
