issue running framework manager after install

We have the Cognos BI 10.2 up and running.
We have installed the 64 bit version.
We can't get the Framework Manager to work.
It is 32 bit and has its own configuration.

This is the error we get:


Unable to access service at URL:

http://uccognosbi1d:80/ibmcognos/cgi-bin/cognosisapi.dll?b_action=xts.run&m=portal/close.xts

Please check that your gateway URI information is configured correctly and that the service is available.

For further information please contact your service administrator.


The gateway URI is exactly the same as the main Cognos BI gateway URI.  And works.

It is a fresh install of both Cognos BI and FM.
both are installed on the same server

any ideas?

Hi,

There are two configuration settings to check in the 32-bit Cognos Configuration utility - the Gateway URI and the Dispatcher URI for external applications

I'd expect the Gateway URI to look like this:

http://uccognosbi1d:80/ibmcognos/cgi-bin/cognosisapi.dll

and I'd expect the Dispatcher URI for external applications to look like this

http://uccognosbi1d:9300/p2pd/servlet/dispatch

You also need to make sure that these are the same in the 64-bit Cognos Configuration utility

What do you see in 32-bit Cognos Configuration when you press the Save button? Do you get the cryptographic keys generated successfully?

If so, what happens when you then try FM - does it now work?

i can't check this right now as i have gone home.

i use the cognos configuration utility, i assume this is the 64bit one.
is there a 32bit one as well?
there is a configuration utility for framework manager, is that the same as the 32 bit one you refer to?

Hi,

The 64-bit Cognos Configuration utility is the one that configures your 64-bit Cognos server instance. The 32-bit Cognos Configuration utility is for the 32-bit installs, such as Framework Manager. They are separate utilities, and both need to be configured with the same gateway and dispatcher URIs. Although both executables look very similar, you can tell if you are in the 32-bit utility because there is no "start" button on the toolbar.

I have read that there are issues if you have different versions
For Cognos from cmplst i have: C8BISRVRRS_version=C8-AW64-ML-RTM-10.2.6100.235-0
for FM, i have: C8FM_version=C8-AW32-ML-RTM-10.2.6100.236-0

slightly different i suppose, could this be an issue or something else?

What do you see when you press the Save button in the 32-bit Cognos Configuration? Do the crypto keys generate successfully?

Does FM work properly if you launch it using right-click and choose "Run as Administrator"? What OS is your server running?

If not, can you install it on a different PC and see if it configures and works on that one?
