Hi Cognos Gurus,

I have a product dimension with around 20 columns that are needed for reporting.
I have created a Product dimension in cube designer with one level Product and included all other columns as attributes. The heirarchy so, has one level.
The reason i have not created more levels is because there is no confirmation in design that which level will come above in the heirarchy ( e.g there is age category, type category, area group, print group etc. which are unrelated columns in terms of where to place one in heirarchy- The data is such)

Now the user is dragging, product name and age category in crosstab. he wants the age category property to be groupued.
obviously since, the key of level is product_key, it is showing as below:

   adult    product1
   adult    product2
   adult    product3
   adult    product4
   adult    product5
   Child    product6
   Child    product7
   Child    product8
   Senior    product9
   Senior    product10

he wants to see as :

   adult    product1
              product2
              product3
              product4
              product5
   Child    product6
              product7
              product8
   Senior    product9
              product10

From what i found- insert properties cannot be grouped.

Is there any way i can handle this in cube design?

thanks in advance

Hi,

Sounds to me like you have a requirement for multiple hierarchies in your Product Dimension. In this case the hierarchy required would be Age Category (first level) and Product (Second level). You could add other hierarches for Type Category > Product, Area Group > Product, Print Group > Product etc.

Cheers!
