Copying Objects in CWA and Creating New Queries

Hello-
Suppose I have a table with two columns and one row.  In the first cell, a user creates a simple list with filters.  He then copy/pastes that list to the 2nd cell but wishes to adjust the filters to show different data.  But, adjusting the filters in the 2nd list also affects the first list since they both use 'Query1'.  How can I copy/paste my list but have it recognize different filters of say a 'Query2'?  Thank you.

Copy Query1 to Query2. Copy the list, then change the query property on the list object to Query2. Modify the filters on Query2.

Thank you...and I apologize for not following you...but
1. I know how to copy a list in CWA but how would I copy Query1 to Query2?
2. And where do I see to change the query property in CWA?
Thank you.

My sincerest apologies, I was not paying attention and thinking you were in Report Studio and not CWA.

Ummm... sadly I do not have CWA available to me right now. But it is actually a cut-down version of Report Studio, believe it or not, and you can actually open your CWA reports in RS and vice-versa. So since I cannot jump into CWA to find the functionality if it is there, I will make a suggestion to pull it into RS to make this change for them, and then the original author can open it back up in CWA and proceed to modify it from there.

Really sorry for any confusion.  :-[

No problems...I was HOPING you were on to something.  Yes, I could figure out how to do this in RS but the slimmed down version CWA doesn't give me all the options I need...at least as far as I could see.  I tried many tricks...hoping for others.
Regarding your thought to open in RS:  We use CWA in our "production" environment for semi-power users to make their own reports.  We do not offer RS in production, only development.  So, that avenue is not open to me.  Still hoping for ideas from others.
I have seen slides about the upcoming Cognos Analytics and believe I will not have this problem there since CWA and RS are in a single interface...but until then, I am stuck.

It is possible to have your administrator create interface profiles that will open up more functionality within CWA to help users past the common stumbling blocks they are encountering.

It is also possible to have your administrator allow RS to a  limited number of users in the production environment to address these types of tweaks that will further empower your business authors. Users can work in a shared folder area within the Public Folders tab rather than in My Folders so that this type of collaboration can be supported. Permissions keep every one out of other production areas.

If the powers that be are unable to sanction using the right tool for the right job in the right place at the right time, then have a rant somewhere followed by a few cleansing breaths. Then consider grabbing the XML from the user's report, opening it up and making the necessary tweaks on your development sever, then pass the XML back to them. I regret even suggesting it since the first two suggestions I made are really the better way to go.

Yes, we are on 10.2.2 and are aware of the interface profile function but the admins haven't rolled that out to us as an option.  The intent is to migrate us up to Cognos Analytics around mid next year which would solve this problem since from what I see CWA & RS will be in single, cleaned up interface...and then my pb gets solved.  Thank you for the options though.  In the meantime, if anyone has any ideas, I would still be interested.
