Hi Guys,

I am using Cognos 10.2.1 FP 2 64 bit, I have installed FM with FP2 of 32 BIT

I am trying to create a connection to a SQL Server Database from the Cognos Connection, using the sigon as the "IBM Cognos software service credentials", I am taking the Microsoft SQL Server (OLEDB Driver) from the drop down menu and I am sucessfully able to test both the OLEDB and JDBC connection, both shows the status as succeed.

However when I try to use the same datasource and try to import any object in Framework manager it prompts me for user name and password.

This occurs only when I select the Project as Dynamic, it works fine for Compatible mode.

Any idea as to why this error occurs? or is this something to do with the fix pack2?

Hi there,

I'm in the same situation. We are upgrading to 10.2.1, and I have successfully set up a data source connection with SQL Server in Cognos Admin ( test succeeded). However, when I go to run any report I get prompted for a Userid and Pwd. When I enter the Active Directory userid and pwd, the report will run. I'm not sure how to get rid of this issue.

I've installed FP2 and I haven't done anything with Framework Manager. I've just got it installed(32 bit).

I've read something about maybe downloading a JDBC driver from Microsoft but I'm unsure if this would resolve it. I'm  I will keep an eye out for anything that might help......

Hi,

When you use Dynamic Query Mode the connection utilises the JDBC definition within the data source definition. When you use Compatible you are using the OLEDB connection definition.

Make sure you have the correct sqljdbc4.jar file from Microsoft copied into your <install location>\IBM\cognos\c10_64\webapps\p2pd\WEB-INF\lib folder on your Cognos 10 server.

Cheers!

Thanks for your reply. However, we are not using Dynamic Query Mode since all our reports were previously created without it. So, I guess I will not need to configure the JDBC connection in our data source, only the OLEDB one.

That being said, I found a link from IBM's trouble shooting guide suggesting that  "The single signon mechanism does not work when IBM Cognos Business
Intelligence is configured as follows:
-Microsoft Internet Explorer runs on a Microsoft Windows operating system NT
computer.
- The authentication namespace is configured with the Active Directory provider.
- Microsoft Internet Explorer on a Windows 2000 or Windows 2003 server is
configured for Integrated Windows Authentication.
As a result, users are prompted for their Active Directory credentials.

It suggests to do the following:
-configure IBM Cognos BI to communicate with the Active Directory server using
the LDAP provider.
-configure the external identity mapping property to read the REMOTE_USER
environment variable.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Uncheck the project as dynamic .When you select dynamic FM expects data source connection to be dynamic .
